A multi-vehicle crash and fuel spill on Route 3 east near MetLife Stadium is causing up to 30 minute delays for commuter buses to New York.

NJ Transit has diverted it’s New York-bound commuter buses to I-80 and the New Jersey Turnpike, according to agency commuter alerts.

Eastbound buses are reporting 30 minute delays due to the crash, which has shut down the New York-bound lanes of Route 3. That traffic is being diverted to a service road, according to NJDOT alerts.

NJDOT is reporting an overall 40 to 45 minute delay on Route 3 east and rubbernecking delays on nearby highways. Some westbound lanes of Route 3 west were closed for the accident and fuel spill clean-up.

The angst isn’t over for commuters once they get past the crash site. The Lincoln Tunnel is reporting eastbound delays of 30 to 40 minutes.
