PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Philadelphia police officer is in stable condition after her police car was hit by a bakery truck while she was responding to a call.

Police Chief Inspector Scott Small says the officer was headed to a pursuit of an assault suspect on South Street early Tuesday when the truck crashed into the side of her patrol car near 11th Street.

Small says the 45-year-old was bleeding from the mouth and had some pain to her left side. But she was walking and talking at the hospital.

Her name has not been released.

Other officers arrested the person suspected of punching two people on South Street.
