SANDYSTON — Law enforcement officers were investigating a motor vehicle accident Thursday afternoon that left at least one person dead, police said.

State Police Lt. Brian Polite said that at about 1:09 p.m. troopers were dispatched to the area of Old Mine Road and Kuhn Road for a report of a two-car accident.

The accident caused injuries and left “at least one person” deceased, Polite said.

Due to the active nature of the investigation, further information was not immediately available, Polite said.

Investigators were still at the scene as of 4 p.m.
