Submitted by New Jersey Truck Accident Attorney, Jeffrey Hark

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — A gruesome crash on I-287 in New Jersey claimed the life of a man Tuesday.

At around 4 p.m, a sport-utility vehicle rear-ended the back of a tractor-trailer in the southbound lanes of I-287 in Hanover Township right near exit 37, CBS2’s Joe Biermann reported.

Police cautioned drivers the two right lanes were closed due to the accident investigation.

Southbound I-287 was at a standstill for about 5 miles, Biermann reported. And delays on northbound I-287 went back about 3 miles.

Motorists were advised use I-280 or Route 24 as an alternate route to avoid the mess, Biermann reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
