WOODCLIFF LAKE — A motorist from New York state died from injuries she suffered when her car went off the roadway on the Garden State Parkway and struck a tree Monday night, authorities said.
The identity of the driver was not released pending notification of next of kin, said Lt. Brian Polite, a spokesman for the state police. He said state police were called about the accident at 7:42 p.m., and it occurred in the northbound lanes at milepost 169.8.
He said that a female who had been the lone occupant in the car had been “confirmed deceased.” No other cars were involved in the accident, he said. Polite said details about the accident were not immediately available but that the woman was from New York state, and the car was registered there.
