A motorcyclist died Sunday from injuries sustained in a crash Sunday afternoon on Route 80 in Roxbury, according to a New Jersey State Police report.

Luis Santana, 20, of Union City was identified as the cyclist, who was taken to St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover where he was pronounced dead, according to the report.

The accident occurred at 4:57 p.m. on eastbound Route 80 at mile marker 28.2. According to the report, the cyclist for unknown reasons ran off the right side of the highway and struck a guardrail.

No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the accident.State troopers closed eastbound Route 80 immediately after the crash, resulting in extensive traffic delays for about three hours.

Conditions on the highway at the time of the crash were “clear and dry,” according to the report.
