Highway Patrol: 1 dead after head-on school bus crash

One person was killed in an accident involving a school bus in Cabarrus County, officials said.

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. – At least one person is dead after a head-on collision involving a school bus in Cabarrus County, officials said.

According to North Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Highway 73 near the intersection with La Forest Lane just after 9 a.m.

A driver crossed the center line and hit the Cabarrus County school bus head on causing a third vehicle to crash into the bus from behind.

The man driving the car that crossed the center line was killed in the crash.  The victim is from Denver, NC.  His name has not been released at this time.
Officials said that no students were on the school bus at the time of the accident.
