A Glen Ridge man was killed Sunday in a fiery crash at a Garden State Parkway toll plaza in Paramus, New Jersey State Police said.
According to state police Sgt. Jeff Flynn, John Muller V of Glen Ridge died in the single-vehicle incident.
According to Flynn, Muller was attempting to exit the parkway at 11:35 a.m. at Exit 165 when his 2001 Acura struck a concrete island and the tollbooth. The vehicle then flipped, landed on its roof and became engulfed in flames, he said.
Muller was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:03 p.m., Flynn said.
State police are continuing the investigation, Flynn said.
According to 511NY-New Jersey, there was a 1.5 mile backup on the northbound parkway.
