HOLMDEL — The express lanes on the Garden State Parkway were closed for approximately four hours Tuesday morning after a car crashed into a dump truck, police said.

At around 9:30 a.m., a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze heading southbound on the Parkway crashed into the rear of an unoccupied dump truck parked on the right shoulder near milepost 115.7 in Holmdel, said Trooper Alejandro Goez, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police.

The driver of the Cruze, a 76-year-old woman, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, Goez said. She was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

What led the woman to crash into the dump truck is still under investigation, Goez said.

The express lanes were closed down for nearly four hours, the spokesman said.

The Holmdel First Aid Squad also responded to the crash.
