Authorities ID two killed in Route 18 truck crash

COLTS NECK Two men died and a third was hospitalized Wednesday morning after they were thrown from a truck that overturned on Route 18 North.

Apolinar Guerrero, 39, of Piscataway, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:30 a.m., according to Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Charlie Webster. Juan Sanchez, 51, of Bound Brook, was pronounced dead at 8:35 a.m. Both men were passengers in the truck.

The driver – Nicolas Denis, 23, of Elizabeth – is in stable condition at a local hospital, Webster wrote in an email.

They were riding in a commercial line-striping truck owned by Straight Edge Striping of Bound Brook. The truck was headed north on Route 18 when it overturned between Route 34 and Route 537 in Colts Neck about 6:15 a.m.
