Garden State Parkway Motor Vehicle Accident
WALL TOWNSHIP – At least four people were hospitalized in a two-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway that left one car fully engulfed in flames, State Police said.
A Chevy van and a Daewoo Nubira collided around 7:42 a.m. on the northbound side of the Parkway just south of Exit 98, Sgt. Jeff Flynn said.
Minutes later the Daewoo caught fire by the left lane of the highway, as traffic started to build up around the scene.
People in both vehicles were injured, but none were life-threatening, Flynn said. Four occupants of the van were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. It is unclear whether anyone who was in the Daewoo was hospitalized.
The fiery crash brought traffic to a standstill on the Parkway, causing at least 2-mile delays before the scene was cleared around 9:30 a.m.
