LITTLE EGG HARBOR — A 23-year-old man was killed early Monday morning when his car crashed into a tree on the side of the Garden State Parkway, police said.
Robert Kappus, of Hillsborough, was driving northbound on the Parkway when his Toyota Camry drifted off the right side of the highway and crashed into a tree, New Jersey State Police spokesman Trooper Lawrence Peele said.
What caused Kappus’ vehicle to veer off the highway near mile marker 57.9 in Little Egg Harbor is still under investigation, Peele said. The crash was reported at around 5 a.m.
Kappus was pronounced dead at the scene. He had two passengers in the car who suffered injuries that are not life-threatening, Peele said.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
