UNION TOWNSHIP, NJ — Two tractor-trailers crashed Wednesday morning causing delays on Interstate 78 East in Hunterdon County, New Jersey State Police Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams said.
One tractor trailer carrying cardboard boxes jack-knifed on the eastbound side of 78 just west of exit 13 for Route 173 at around 8:46 a.m. That trailer overturned spilling the boxes into the roadway, Williams said.
Another tractor trailer crashed as well as a result. Police closed all lanes during clean-up and diverted traffic off exit 12 for several hours.
At around 10:50 a.m., the right lane and shoulder were reopened to let some traffic through.
Both drivers sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries. One truck driver was taken to Hunterdon Medical Center and the other to St. Luke’s Warren Hospital, William said.
The crash is still under investigation.
