HOLMDEL, N.J. (AP) – State police have closed northbound express lanes on the Garden State Parkway after two SUVs caught fire in an accident.
State police Sgt. Jeff Flynn said the accident happened about 8:15 Tuesday morning in Holmdel when a Ford Escape and a BMW SUV struck each other. Flynn says there were no serious injuries.
There is no word on how many people were traveling in the vehicles. Flynn says the accident appeared to happen after one SUV rear-ended the other.
The northbound express lanes have been closed and traffic is being diverted onto the Parkway’s local lanes.
This story has been corrected to say the accident happened Tuesday, not Monday.
