Submitted by New Jersey traffic accident attorney, Jeffrey Hark.

There was a five- to 10-minute delay at 6:40 Wednesday morning on Interstate 78 East near Exit 18 in Clinton Township after an accident, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The left lane was closed, the DOT said.

New Jersey State Police confirmed the accident scene was still active at that hour but couldn’t provide basic details such as how many vehicles were involved or if there were injuries.

The crash was east of the Route 22 interchange, the DOT said.

The Waze trafic app was showing a complete stop on the highway miles to the west in Bethlehem Township, New Jersey, and heavy traffic in Union Township.

The delay by 7 a.m. was 15 to 20 minutes.

The crash was cleared just before 7:30 but was going to take time for the traffic backup to work its way through.
